OBC ROGERSCLEM.COM 626-858-5100 C ongratulations to all of the dealers who have been elected to the NCDA Board of Directors, including our Chairman of the Board, Mark Gruwell, Vice Chairman Jasen Powell and Secretary-Treasurer Vincent Castro. Mark will stay on as Chairman due to the fact that he only served a half year last year due to filling in for another dealer that was Chairman who sold his dealershipmid-year. Mark will also serve as Co-Chair of the auto show this year along with our Past Chairman Richard Newendyke. We look forward to working with everyone who was elected this year. We want to welcome our newest employee Barry Toepke who took over for Scott Webb here in the office. Scott left the Association last year to pursue his own business. Barry has an extensive 30 year background in the industry including being the Vice President of Monterey County’s WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the past ten years. Also, Barry was Communications Director and OEM Liaison for the Los Angeles Auto Show for ten years prior to that. We are excited that he is on board here at NCDA. Our 2020 San Diego International Auto Show is six months away. The show dates will be January 1 – 5 , 2020. We are already deep into the planning and development of that show. As you know, NCDA produces that show in-house every year. You will be hearing more from us on the Auto Show in the coming months. Our California Sales Training Academy (CSTA) is entering its 27th year here at NCDA. More than half of our members are currently Academy Partners. Partners pay a separate monthly fee to be able to send their new Sales Associates for training, and also hire those graduates that are looking for jobs at Dealerships. NCDA also recruits students looking for a new career in sales to attend this twice a month class for free to help our Partners fill sales jobs. CSTA has been one of the many success stories of programs through the Association. Best wishes to all of you.
