18 San Diego Dealer T asha Boerner Horvath is the newly-elected California State Assemblymember for the 76th district, encompassing much of northern San Diego County, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas. As a 3rd generation resident of Encinitas, Tasha has served as a member of the Planning Commission, and then on the Encinitas City Council where she helped craft the most ambitious climate action plan in San Diego County. As a newAssemblymember, she brings with her to Sacramento a dedica- tion to protecting clean air and water, investment in our transportation infrastructure, and a strong business background. Tasha also hopes to pass legislation that creates sustainable jobs and safer communities. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in political science fromUC Berkeley and a Master’s in international studies at Claremont University, Tasha began her career in the private sector, where she specialized in creating public-private partnerships to tackle the world’s toughest problems. She has worked for small businesses, nonprofits, and Global Fortune 500 companies. Her most personal business venture was inspired by her family life. Frustrated with the lack of options for children struggling with sen- sory processing disorders, Tasha started a small business designing sensory-friendly clothes for little girls. Tasha hopes to bring the same kind of entrepreneurial spirit to the Assembly, where she plans to invest inworkforce development training for emerging economies and support small business owners. Tasha is also working to secure funding for infrastructure improvements in North County. She believes that funding transportation projects will decrease traffic and make travel in our region safer. Along with improving infrastructure, Tasha’s priorities include develop- ing a greener economy, addressing the root causes of homelessness, supporting our veterans, decreasing emergency response times, and being an advocate for California’s public school system. Tasha believes in creating pragmatic solutions for our biggest problems, and knows that staying connectedwith the community helps her become a better legislator. To ensure accessibility for every constituent, she plans to host regular town hall meetings and hold office hours in every city in the 76th Assembly District. Residents are welcome to ask questions about legislation, or ask for assistance with state issues. “I’m incredibly proud to represent North County in the California State Assembly,” says Assemblymember Boerner Horvath. “I look forward to working with groups like the New Car Dealers Association to help me be the effective advocate our community deserves.” MEET ASSEMBLYMEMBER TASHA BOERNER HORVATH
