Issue 1. 2019 17 The Wawanesa Exotics Vault was also a popular destination, featuring vehicles thatmost people only dreamabout. Nissanwas the sponsor again this year of the show’s Military Appreciation program and distributed complimentary tickets to active and recently retired military personnel from their San Diego stores. The Mobility Zone also returned, featuring a wide variety of accessible vehicles available today, including a retrofitted Honda Pilot, a first for this vehicle. Finally, Sunday’s Family Day was a festival of fun for kids of all ages, and included an appearance by Marvel® Superhero Black Panther. And if people didn’t attend the show (and they missed one of the best), it wasn’t for lack of exposure. This year’s media coverage of the showwas over the top, with every television station broadcasting live during the show’s media preview on Thursday morning, and providing additional coverage throughout the entire weekend. One station alone tallied up 30 live reports, plus a half-hour television special. Those hits, plus the others, resulted in over 70 television reports about the show. And that number does not include the dozens of print and on-line reports on the show. The SDIAS has always enjoyed a good relationship with local media, who understand that a good relationship with the dealer community parlays into success for all concerned. Our hats are off to KNSDNBC 7, KUSI, KFMB CBS 8/ CW 6, KGTV ABC 10, Fox5 San Diego, Univision and Telemundo and the Union Tribune for your continued support. The 2019 show came to a close with Sunday attendance higher than any day in recent memory. In addition, industry optimism remains high as automakers shift production tomeet consumer demands, such as trucks and SUVs, which are particularly popular in the San Diego market. And that means a bright future for all us.
