I want to remind all of you of the great value that membership in the NCDA brings to our San Diego Dealer Community and how these benefits play such a key role in the success of our business. In spite of the Governor’s veto of AB 2107, our continued engagement and dedication to the industry will be of critical importance to the future of California’s franchise system. Recent political setbackswill not stop us fromcontinuing our fight! We anxiously await to see how the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement will affect our industry. This new deal will require that 75 percent of the auto parts be made in North America in order for the car to be free from tariffs. The provision will help keep the production of car parts in the United States and bring back some production that moved abroad. Adding jobs to the US workforce will only continue to grow our economy. Very soon the New Car Dealers Association will be producing the 2019 San Diego International Auto Show. The number one reason for the Auto Show is to stimulate consumer showroom traffic resulting in auto sales at your dealerships. We want to encourage every dealer and dealership employee to make time to come down and see how the brands that you sell are represented. As most of you know the proceeds from the Auto Showare instrumental in the operation and funding of all of our efforts. We use the funds we receive from the Auto Show to provide the many benefits you enjoy. One of these benefits is access to the California Sales Training Academy that is operated out of the San Diego New Car Dealers Association. We would like to encourage your dealerships to take advantage of the Academy and consider sending all your new and currently underper- forming salespeople for training. There is more information about the Academy in this issue. In closing I would like to remind all of you that together we are strong. As a united San Diego Dealer Community, we can affect change in our local Automotive Industry. Thank you for allowingme to serve as your San Diego New Car Dealers Association Chairman.
