12 San Diego Dealer If you look back at your career and life, what would be three things that you have learned, that you would pass onto a younger member within the auto industry? I would say to not lose sight of your goals, and to be tenacious in achieving them. Also, learn to focus on the task at hand. So many – and I’m guilty as well – think we can multi-task, but the truth is, we’re not necessarily wired to domany things at once. And finally, find a place – a dealership – and stay put. Work through the issues, which interestingly enough, will teach you more than if there had never been any issue to begin with. Problem solving is a skill, and as with any skill, it takes practice. If you could describe the best day in this business, what would it look like? Well, 100 customers in the Service line by 10 a.m., and 10 cars out by noon, and I’d be sleeping like a baby that night! Describe your all-time favorite vehicle (it can be one you’ve owned, or something on your wish list). What are you driving today? I had a Dodge Viper for a long time – I loved that car. But, I also love pick-up trucks. Tell us about your family. Mywife Lila and I have two children,Tyler and Sara.Tyler is a born salesman. Currently he is selling vacation rentals. Our daughter Sara is married to a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps, so she and her two little ones have been staying with us while her husband has been deployed. It’s been nice having little ones in the house again, and Lila loves it. But we are sure glad he is back from South Korea, and so is he, I’m sure. What is your favorite way to spend your free time? Any unusual hobbies? I work and play some golf. I really enjoy both. I am lucky that way. Someone once said that if you love what you do, youwill never spend a day working.
