For 2018 the NCDA has nominated Ed Witt of Witt Lincoln. As you’ll learn in this issue’s cover story, Ed is more than deserving as our nominee given his dedication to our industry, his family and his philanthropy. Also in this issue is a recap of the 2018 San Diego International Auto Show. As chairman of the auto show I spent a great deal of time on the exhibit floor this year. I can tell you one thing…the people therewere car buyers. It’s an incredible opportunity to reach a 100 percent qualified and interested audience who are there for one reason: to pick their next car. The after show surveys again established that these customers are one step away from visiting your dealerships when they are at the San Diego International Auto Show. In addition Consumers are very pleased when they are able to learn about so many cars all in one place. Nearly 600,000 square feet of display and in excess of 450 vehicles makes a strong impression. It’s also important to remind ourselves that the auto show is the primary revenue gen- erator for the association as a whole and funds the many wonderful benefits we’ve come to enjoy and expect. As such, it is imperative that dealers fully support the show by ensuring that each and every brand sold by San Diego dealers is represented at the show. I want to encourage each of you to join us for the 2018 NCDA Golf Tournament, which takes place Monday, May 14 at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. It’s one of the best dealer networking events of the year, and even if you’re not a golfer, you’ll enjoy the cocktail reception and dinner. There are very few places where we can go and visit our fellow dealers and all of the media and support organizations that enrich the retail automobile business. Registration informa- tion will appear in your inboxes soon. Lastly, I want to encourage each of you to attendour Annual SanDiegoNewCar Dealers Association meeting on June 14, 2018 at the beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines.
