Issue 2 2017 21 CNCDA DEALER DAY O ne of themost anticipated and important events on the NCDA calendar is Dealer Day, which is an exclusive opportunity for members of the New Car Dealers Association to personally interact with key state legislators, in addition to networking with other dealers and officials from across the state. A strong showing of NCDA members arrived in Sacramento for this year’s event. Seven NCDA dealers and general managers made the trip, including: NCDA Chairman Owen Mossy, Past Chairman Paul Dyke, Secretary/Treasurer Richard Newendyke, Greg Kaminsky, Chris Murphy, Mark Gruwell and Mike Weseloh. Organized by the California New Car Dealers Association, the day began with a Face the Dealers roundtable discussion where dealers heard from key leaders regarding their motivations for serving in public office and the origins of their political careers. The Meeting of the Members, issues briefing and luncheon followed, at which time CNDA leadership helped prepare dealers for their afternoon legislative appointments. Several pieces of legislation were identified as priorities by the CNCDA, and Cliff Costa, CDCDA’s director of government affairs, explained why these bills are worthy of dealer support. Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of Dealer Day is the opportunity for dealers to meet directly with the legislators who represent them. These meetings provide important personal interaction between legislators and dealers that help build relationships and influence legislation. NCDA dealers were able tomeet with over a dozen legislators and/or their senior staff members to discuss relevant legislation, in addition to sharing our Economic Impact Report to remind legislators how big an impact new car dealers have on San Diego’s economy each year. Assemblyman Brian Maienschein meets with Richard Newendyke, Owen Mossy and Dean Mansfield From L to R: Paul Dyke, Assemblyman Randy Voepel, Greg Kaminsky & Richard Newendyke
