D ear Association Members, I hope 2017 is off to successful start and that you are gearing up for a productive and lucrative 2nd quarter. According to recent sales data, the industry remains strong, in particular at the local level. Influences that can affect our day-to-day business, whether it be the political climate, housing affordability, lending credit—seem to be having a positive impact thus far. The New Car Dealers Association is working on our annual Economic Impact Survey and will release those figures next month. Fromwhat I’ve seen in the prelimi- nary report, we continue to have a significant impact on our local economy. Fromemployment to sales taxes, our industry surpassesmany others in terms of direct impact to San Diego. Look for the formal report next month and in the next issue of San Diego Dealer Magazine. I recently traveled to Sacramento with NCDA President, DeanMansfield andmy fellow BoardMembers. The trip proved to be productive as we met directly with key legislators to discuss pertinent issues that affect our industry. I was encouraged by the open communication and the desire our government representatives have to support our business. Our group will be traveling to Washington DC this Spring, and I look forward to further discussions with our legislators. Lastly, I encourage you to register for and attend theNew Car Dealers Association Golf Tournament on Monday, May 1st at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club.
