The first part of the year has been positive and it is encouraging to see the latest data trends reflecting growth in our industry. It is also encouraging to see the latest Auto Outlook Report that notes the continued projected upswing in sales for 2016. While the data is positive, we must always remain vigilant in our efforts to promote and protect our industry. In an election year, there is a tendency for volatility and theNewCar Dealers Association remains vigilant on your behalf. I, and some select Board Members, recently attended Dealer Day in Sacramento and had several meetings with Assembleymembers. These face-to-face meetings proved to be productive as we were able to remind our government leaders of the role and impact our industry has on the economy. I would like to remind you of our upcoming New Car Dealers Association Annual Meeting & Luncheon. The event is sure to sell out as we welcome our keynote speaker, Karl Rove. As many of you know, Mr. Rove is the former deputy chief of staff and senior advisor to President George W. Bush, as well as a Fox News Contributor andWSJ Columnist. Given the condition of our political climate, I’m sure we will find Mr. Rove’s keynote address interesting. As always, the New Car Dealers Association welcomes any feedback youmay have.
