We have continued to see steady growth in the market, and I am encouraged by our latest San Diego Outlook figures that are highlighted in this issue. Our county continues to show gains in almost every sector and much greater results than the U.S as a whole. Of particular note, county new retail registrations increased 4.2% for the first six months of the year versus a year earlier (June figures were estimated), in line with the overall improvement in the U.S And more encouraging, the market is predicted to increase to 5.5% in the second half of 2014 versus 2013. This is certainly strong data that all of us dealers like to see. Since my induction as Chairman of the Board in June, I’ve been able to spend valuable time with the staff of the NewCar Dealers Association and to be as proactive as possible during my tenure. My time spent is a great reminder of the tremendous value that membership in the NCDA brings to our dealer community and how these benefits play such a key role in the success of our business. From State and National represen- tation (including paying our state and national membership fees) to local government relations, the NCDA works daily on our behalf dealing with important issues that directly impact our business. I also encourage all dealers to take advantage of the newly formed First Aid/CPR Training course offered to our membership and their employees. Please make sure you read all the program information in this issue as this is another wonderful benefit of membership. All told, there are many reasons for auto dealers to feel positive about the industry. It’s going to be a busy second half of the year. I’m confident the New Car Dealers Association will continue to provide great service to the San Diego dealer community and provide us with the many valu- able resources that make our industry strong and successful. Sincerely, David Wolfson Chairman, NCDA Board of Directors
