12 San Diego Dealer New Car Dealers Association Launches New CPR/First Aid/AED Training Program T he New Car Dealers Association (NCDA), in partnership with the American Red Cross, is proud to announce a new training and certification opportunity for all dealership employees. Earlier this month, the New Car Dealers Association hosted its first ever First Aid + CPR + AED (Automatic Electronic Defibulator) training classes for NCDA members and employees. The 5-day class, hosted at the NCDA headquarters in Sorrento Valley, trains students in life saving techniques and upon completion provides students with official Red Cross certification in First Aid, Adult CPR and use of an AED. “We are thrilled to partner with the American Red Cross and offer our dealer members this fantastic new membership benefit,“ stated New Car Dealers Association President, Dean Mansfield. “Our goal is to get every dealership employee trained which would add up to over 10,000 people being certified.” The training classes will be offered once a month and are approxi- mately 5 hours in duration. The cost per student is $27 which includes all materials and Red Cross certificate. Each year, nearly 800,000 people suffer their first heart attack and some 470,000 suffer a second. If someone experienced sudden cardiac arrest while at your dealership or in the parking lot, by being trained you can make a difference in the initial crucial minutes before first responders arrive on scene. Every minute, every second counts. “Knowing what to do in a cardiac, breathing or first aid emergency can help save someone’s life,“ said Bill Earley, Regional Chief Execu- tive Officer of the Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter. “Effective bystander CPR can double a victim’s chance of survival. We applaud the NCDA for their proactive approach to getting members and employees trained, and becoming part of our Prepare San Diego initiative – a region-wide program to get one million throughout San Diego County prepared to face emergency situations.” Each year, an average of more than 9 million people nationwide gain the skills they need to prepare for and respond to emergencies through Red Cross training classes.
