It is encouraging to see the latest data featured in this edition of SanDiegoDealer magazine out- lining a 6.7% increase in sales in the first quarter. The new vehicle market has come a long way from the depths of the recession. Registrations in the first quarter of this year were an estimated 33,952 units, up more than 14,000 compared to first quarter of 2010. I am hopeful with the improving economic conditions, the easing of household debt burden and most significantly, pent up demand providing the boost to new vehicle sales during the last four years, we will continue to see this upward trend. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes and review the 2014 Economic Impact Report you received last month from the New Car Dealers Association. I believe you will find it extremely informative as it highlights the enormous financial impact dealers have on our regional economy. You can also find it on the NCDA website home page. This letter will serve as my last letter as Chairman of the Board for the New Car Dealers Association. I will be passing the gavel to our incoming Chairman, David Wolfson, in June and moving into my role as this year’s Auto Show Chairman. It has been a distinct pleasure serving as your Chairman this past year. The New Car Dealers Association continues to be at the forefront of industry issues and is by far the best resource dealers can rely on for their business. Dean Mansfield and the staff at theNCDAdo a fantastic job running the Association and ensuring we as dealer members are receiving the best service possible. I have enjoyed my time as Chairman and look forward to working with the NCDA team to produce our world-class San Diego International Auto Show. I hope you will join me and the rest of the Board of Directors on Thursday, June 19th for the NCDA Annual Meeting and Luncheon. We have a very special and dynamic speaker you won’t want to miss! Details are included in the magazine as well as the NCDA website. Again, you DON’T want to miss this very special and exciting event! Lastly, I would like to thank the sponsors and participants from this year’s highly successful 45th Annual Golf Tournament. Once again, the tournament was a sell-out and thanks to our generous sponsors, there were delicious meals and fabulous raffle prizes to go along with a great day of golf.
