4 San Diego Dealer Dear Dealer Members, W elcome to the first issue of this year’s series of San Diego Dealer . What a fitting cover story we have this month as we congratulate Greg Kaminsky of Toyota of El Cajon on his recent honor of being named one of four finalists for the 2014 TIME Dealer of the Year Award. On behalf of the entire San Diego dealer community, we wish Greg heartfelt congratulations on this prestigious honor. I would also like to congratulate Dean Mansfield on his 25 years of service as President of the New Car Dealers Association. Dean’s lead- ership and dedication has grown our Association to one of themost respectedmetro Associations in the country. He is a valuable asset to our industry and once again, on behalf of the New Car Dealers Association Executives, Board of Directors and dealer community, we thank you for your service. 2013 proved to be a strong year for auto- motive sales and it appears 2014 will keep a forward momentum. As you will see in the Auto Outlook Report in this issue, new retail registrations are expected to approach 148,000 units. While forecasting automotive sales is a delicate balancing act, I am encouraged by the projections posted for 2014. As you know, one of the best means of stimulating sales in our stores is the San Diego International Auto Show. I had the pleasure of spending several days at the show in early January, and was impressed by the global rep- resentation, media attention and crowds. This event continues to be an integral part of our industry’s success and I would like to thank Dean Mansfield and his staff for producing an outstanding show. Lastly, if you haven’t done so already, I strongly encourage you to register for this year’s Dealer Day in Sacramento on April 9th. There are a number of new legislators in San Diego County and Dealer Day provides us with an excellent opportunity to share with them the extensive economic contributions our industry provides to the various municipalities in the region.
