Winter 2014 13 fire relief projects, which rebuild forests after wildfires. Currently, I serve as a board member for the YMCA. What are your thoughts or feelings on being selected as a TIME Dealer Finalist? It is quite an honor to be nominated for the Time Dealer of the Year. I have a great respect for all of the nominees this year and it makes me proud to know I am part of an industry that has so many upstanding professionals. To be recognized as one that stands out in our industry is indeed an accolade that I hold in the highest regard. Ally Financial will be contributing $1,000 to each nominee’s char- ity of choice. Have you decided yet which one you’d like yours to go to? The East County Boys and Girls Club What do you think makes membership in the NCDA beneficial? The NCDA stays on top off all of the regulatory issues and ensures that we are kept updated. I believe this is the single most important benefit of membership. Describe your all-time favorite vehicle (it can be one you’ve owned, or something on your wish list). Oh, and what are you driving today? My absolute all-time favorite car is a 1970 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I actually own one in mint condition that sits on display in our show- room. It only has 4,000 original miles on it! Quick history – a man purchased it in 1970 in San Diego and had it shipped to Montana. It ended up spending most of its time there up on blocks in a barn. The man caught wind of my love for restoring old Land Cruisers and reached out to me about ten years ago. I bought it sight unseen and had it sent to me via flatbed trailer – and that’s how it found its way back to San Diego and into our showroom! I am currently driving a Toyota Avalon Hybrid. Tell us about your family. I have a wife, Lynde, three sons and a daughter. What’s your favorite way to spend your free time? When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me outdoors. My favorite pastime is fishing. However, spending time with my wife and four children is what I cherish most. With three sons, it’s no surprise that I’m very active with Little League. And I love to take my family on the road – camping and traveling. Exploring new and different places together is something I am always ready and willing to do.
