6 San Diego Dealer Dear Dealers, T his issue of San Diego Dealer magazine features Jim Brown, of Marvin K. Brown Auto Center, one of the Association’s most distinguished and influential Board Members and past Chairman. I have known Jim for close to 25 years and have witnessed the numerous achievements and accolades he has earned supporting the San Diego community and championing our industry. During his tenure as a Board of Director and Chairman, Jim was integral in building the dealer membership and communicating the goals of the New Car Dealers Association. He is a true ambassador to the San Diego dealer community and I thank him for his service to the NCDA. I had the pleasure of seeing Jim as well as 19 other past chairmen at the recent “Past Chairman’s Lunch” hosted by the Association. The room collectively represented close to 40 years of leadership and was attended by Board Members who served as far back as the early 70s. The afternoon was filled with reminiscing and light-hearted exchanges about the challenges and the triumphs of the automotive industry over the years, but mostly, it was a representa- tion of the strength and progression of our Association and its members. My thanks to all of those who attended. With 2014 just a few weeks away, the New Car Dealers Association will look forward to kicking off the year with another successful auto show and continuing our service to the San Diego dealer community. We are hopeful that our industry continues to improve and the NCDA will remain at the forefront of issues that directly affect your business.
