6 San Diego Dealer A s we enter the second half of the summer, it looks like strong sales figures still exist in San Diego County. In fact the predic- tion is that the market will increase over 10 percent in 2013 with new retail light vehicle registrations expected to approach 140,000 units here. Last year we hit 126,570 new units. That is a long way from our low in 2009 of 77,707 new units for that year. We have come a long way! Summer also brings the Association into full scale Auto Showmode. We are in the process of contracting for space and selling sponsorships, ride and drives, and booth spaces into the show. We are getting our floor plan finished and updat- ing all of our Exhibitors manuals and rules and regulations for the show as well. This year we are expanding our show back to a 5-day event. The past three years were a 4-day show due to the downturn in revenue and space requirements from the manufacturers. However, over the past couple of years those space requirements and revenues have steadily come up again, and we actually need that 5th day at the show to accommodate our attendance. Also, we recently held the annual election for the NCDA Board of Directors. I have worked with him off and on for nearly 25 years and he has always stepped up to any challenge we threw at him. He has held every elected office possible for both the NCDA and the CNCDA. He has also been the NCDATime Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year award nominee. In short, he has taken the time to be of tremendous help to our Association and the State Association over the years.
