6 San Diego Dealer G reetings andwelcome toanother year of membershipwith the NewCar Dealers Association® San Diego County. The automotive dealer industry in San Diego County ended 2012 by posting a 27 percent increase in new vehicle sales vs. 2011 to coincide with the tremendously successful SanDiego International Auto Show®. New vehicles sales increased for the third consecutive year, demonstrating the continued strength and sustainability of the industry in our region. Likewise, this year’s Auto Show was well attended – another sign that the industry is moving in the right direction. The post Auto Show survey taken by the Association provides some very interesting and encouraging insights. For example: • Thirty-three percent said this was their first time attending the show • More than 70 percent said attending the show influenced their purchasing decision • Nearly 40 percent said they plan to purchase a vehicle in the next 12 months • Over 56 percent said they plan to purchase a new vehicle I want to reiterate what Bill Cumming said in his letter about the impact of having several NCDA Dealer Members enhancing this year’s auto show with an array of luxury vehicles. Likewise, no auto show enjoys greater media support than ours. This partnership continues to be instrumental in promoting the show throughout San Diego County and demonstrating an unparalleled commitment to the manufacturer representa- tives in attendance and local businesses that exhibit. Our attendance increasedmarkedly this year thanks to the overall effort of our staff, our Dealers and our media partners. Again this year, we will be paying for both State Association (CNCDA) and National Association (NADA) dues for every one of our members. This one benefit alone pays for your membership to our Association! In addition, we don’t have to duplicate any of those Association Benefits, which gives us the freedom to con- centrate on additional programs and services. As we head into spring, be on the lookout for registration information for this year’s New Car Dealers Association Annual Golf Tournament. This event historically sells out, so please make sure you submit your forms early to secure your spot. We will also look forward to hosting our annual Media Appreciation Party and honoring our Board of Directors this June.
