The New Car Dealers Association® San Diego County (NCDA) is one of the few automotive dealer associations in the country that pays for both state and national automotive association dues for its Dealer Members. This provides Dealer Members with access to critical industry information, regulatory assistance, training programs and legislative representation at the state and national levels. Additionally, it provides opportunities for participation in annual events such as the National Automobile Dealer Association’s Annual Convention & Expo and its Washington, DC Legislative Conference and the California New Car Dealers Association’s Dealer Day. During the past five decades, the NCDA has selected a Dealer Member as its TIME Dealer of the Year award winner and nominated that Dealer for the national award. The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the industry’s most coveted and prestigious. Each winner’s portrait is prominently displayed in Quality Hall, the NCDA’s primary conference room for dealer meetings and presentations. Since 1991, the NCDA has sponsored the California Sales Training Academy (CSTA) to promote professionalism in the retail automotive business through training and education. Some of the general managers in dealerships today are graduates of this course. Many Dealer Members hire sales personnel and immediately enroll them in the course to provide themwith the benefit of this training before training begins at the dealership. Thanks to the generosity of CSTA’s Academy Partners, the training is provided to the students free of charge if they are San Diego County residents. Beginning in 2005, the NCDA has provided seminars andworkshops through the Specialized Training Academy for Automotive Retailers (STAAR) program. This training is offered to Dealer Members at reduced cost to ensure dealership personnel receive assistance with regulatory compliance issues and business improvement training.
