Chairman’s Letter 20 San Diego Dealer S ummer for many signals days at the beach, out of town vacations or family and friends arriving to enjoy San Diego’s sunshine and attractions. At the New Car Dealers Association® San Diego County (NCDA), May and June bring in the Annual Golf Tournament and the Annual Celebration and Media Appreciation Party. The NCDA’s 43rd Annual GolfTournament was held once again at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club with pristine weather conditions. The sold-out tournament featured several new winners in both individual golf skills contests as well as team competition. The first place team gross score sponsored by U-T San Diego included Carl Bangerter, Chris Bangerter and Rich Hopkins. The first place team net score sponsored by San Diego Fox 5 included Chris George, Mike Martin and Scott Heath. The KFMB-TV teamof IvanMendelson, BrianMcEntee, Chris Blei and AdamWeyne took second place net score honors. In the skills contests, AutoTrader.com sponsored the Closest to the Pin contest which was won by Pat Keegan, Penske Automotive Group, who came within 17 inches on hole #8. The longest drive at hole #11 was sponsored by Celly Services and was won by Kenny Lehmer, Lexus El Cajon, with a distance of 333 feet. This year, there were a record number of sponsors which make the Annual Golf Tournament such a successful event. The Platinum Sponsors included ADESA San Diego, AutoTrader.Com , Bank of America, Barney & Barney, Cars.com, Fox Sports San Diego, KGTV 10News and U-T San Diego. Freeman Company provided a Silver Sponsorship and Celly Services, Parke, Guptill & Company and US Bank were this year’s Bronze Sponsors. A fewweeks later, more than 100 NCDA Dealer and AssociateMembers and guests gathered on the Manchester Terrace at the Grand Del Mar for the Annual Celebration and Media Appreciation Party. The official order of business for the evening was to recognize the 2011-2012 NCDA Board of Director’s Chairman, John Stall of Bob Stall Chevrolet. John will now serve as the Chairman of the 2013 San Diego International Auto Show®. Bill Cumming of Ron Baker Chevrolet, the new NCDA Board Chairman, presented an engraved crystal gavel to John in appreciation of his services as Board Chairman. This year’s event welcomed a special guest speaker, Bill Underriner, the current National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) chairman and multi-store dealer from Montana. Bill currently owns Honda, Hyundai, Buick and Volvo franchises in Billings. Previously, he served three terms as Treasurer of NADA and on the association’s Executive, Industry Relations, Dealership Operations and Membership committees. He has also served as chairman of the association’s Finance and Convention committees. Bill has held a variety of offices with the Montana Automobile Dealers Association, including chairman of the board. He has been a member of the Dealers Election Action Committee’s (DEAC) Presidents Club.
